Kendra is an every day reader, who learned how to read through her mom, practice, and her past teachers. She believes people read for different types of reasons, like enjoyment, to learn, to stay busy, etc. She also believes to be a good reader a person has to have passion. If a person has passion for reading, then they can improve to the best of their abilities. Because of this reading is easy for Kendra who has an extreme enjoyment that comes from books, but finds it challenging at times when the content does not interest her. Kendra chooses books based on the brief overview written somewhere on the cover of the book and the number of pages a book has. Kendra also looks for humor, a good story line and interesting characters among other things to indicate a good book. Due to her enjoyment, Kendra reads for at least 15 minutes everyday or more.
Kendra is also a writer and learned to write from her past English teachers, development from reading and her love to tell stories. She thinks people write to relieve stress, create something of their own, because they enjoy it or because they just have to get that paper done for class. People who would like to write well need to be able to take criticism well and be open minded. Kendra enjoys to write poetry and short stories and she takes inspiration from everyday events and from things she had read. She likes to think that criticism and her love from words helps her become a better writer. Kendra writes at home at least once a week, if not more. Kendra feels okay about what she writes, she thinks she can improve more as she gains more experience.
